Lamont Highlights Record Of Lowering Costs, Creating Opportunity, And Standing Up To Trump

WFSB debate showcased Fazio’s record of voting against Connecticut families, enthusiastic support for Donald Trump

Rocky Hill, CT – In tonight’s debate co-hosted by WFSB and CT Insider, Governor Ned Lamont made the case for a third term, highlighting his work to lower costs, invest in education, strengthen Connecticut’s finances, and stand up to Donald Trump. He contrasted his record of results with Republican nominee Ryan Fazio’s support for Trump’s agenda and plans that don’t add up.

“Since I took office, we’ve taken on tough challenges, made hard decisions, and built a stronger, better Connecticut,” said Governor Ned Lamont. “Today, our state is stronger because we’ve done the hard work of balancing budgets, paying down debt, lowering costs, investing in our schools, and protecting our rights. Now we have the opportunity to expand access to quality healthcare, make Connecticut more affordable, build more housing, hold utilities accountable, all while creating more opportunities for every family.”

Governor Lamont pointed to a record of experience and actually getting things done: universal early childhood education, free school meals, debt-free community college, and increased education funding, all while balancing the budget every year in office.

“Voters face a stark contrast in this election. Governor Lamont’s record is defined by fiscal responsibility and real middle-class relief, such as paying down $11 billion in state debt while passing paid family leave, fully funding our public schools, and cutting income taxes for working families,” said Lauren Gray, Communications Director. “By contrast, Ryan Fazio has tied his political future to Donald Trump’s disruptive agenda. An agenda that threatens our local economy, raises everyday costs, and targets our communities. While Governor Lamont works every day to make Connecticut more affordable, Ryan Fazio continues to prioritize MAGA politics over the families he was elected to serve.”

The candidates will square off next week for a debate hosted by WTNH and CCM on Tuesday, October 27th.

Election Day is November 3. No-excuse absentee ballots are available now, and early voting is open now and runs through Sunday, November 1. Learn more about making a plan to vote at nedlamont.com/vote.
