GOVERNOR LAMONT ENDORSED BY THE CONNECTICUT AFL-CIO
Hartford, Conn. – Governor Ned Lamont today proudly accepted the endorsement of the Connecticut AFL-CIO, a federation of hundreds of local unions representing approximately 250,000 union members across Connecticut’s private sector, public sector, and building trades. With members living and working in every city and town in the state, the Connecticut AFL-CIO is the heart of Connecticut’s labor movement, a democratically elected body dedicated to advocating for social and economic justice and mobilizing working people and community partners to build a more just Connecticut for all.
“The Connecticut AFL-CIO represents the heart of our state’s working and middle class, and I am incredibly honored to earn their endorsement,” said Governor Ned Lamont. “For years, I have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with union members at rallies, on picket lines, and at the bargaining table, because I believe Connecticut’s future is built on good-paying union jobs with good benefits. Together, we have passed the $15 minimum wage, paid family and medical leave, made sure our paid sick days law covered more workers, expanded collective bargaining rights for public employees, implemented strong health and safety protections for warehouse workers, and banned captive audience meetings. I am proud to keep fighting alongside the men and women of the AFL-CIO to ensure Connecticut remains a place where every worker can thrive.”
The Connecticut AFL-CIO joins a growing list of endorsements, including U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, and U.S. Reps. John Larson, Joe Courtney, Rosa DeLauro, Jim Himes and Jahana Hayes, Comptroller Sean Scanlon, Treasurer Erick Russell, Attorney General William Tong, 93 State Lawmakers, 86 Democratic Town Committee Chairs, more than 50 municipal leaders across the state, 44 Democratic State Central Committee members, the Teamsters Union, Unite Here Local 217, Unite Here Local 34, the Connecticut District Laborers’ Council, the Uniformed Professional Firefighters Association, the Amalgamated Transit Union of Connecticut, and the Connecticut Carpenters Union. The campaign will continue to roll out additional endorsements in the coming days.
