GOVERNOR LAMONT ENDORSED BY TEAMSTERS LOCAL 671
New Haven, CT – Governor Ned Lamont today announced he has received the endorsement of Teamsters Local 671, a Bloomfield-based union representing more than 4,000 workers across transportation, construction, and other industries throughout Central Connecticut, including UPS drivers, construction workers, and hundreds of school bus drivers, monitors, and mechanics who get Connecticut’s kids to and from school safely every day.
“Every school day, it’s Teamsters school bus drivers who get our kids to class safely, and they deserve a Governor who has their backs,” said Governor Ned Lamont. “As Governor, I have proudly stood with labor and fought for good jobs for the men and women behind the wheel, and for working families across our state. Protecting the right to organize, investing in safe, reliable transportation, and making sure our economy works for the people who keep it running is more important than ever. I am honored to receive this endorsement and will keep fighting for Connecticut’s Teamsters.”
This announcement follows a series of legislative victories for Connecticut’s working families, including the expansion of workforce development programs, new job protections for labor, and the implementation of landmark policies like paid family and medical leave and an above-$15 minimum wage. Under the Lamont administration, the state has prioritized the health and safety of essential workers while combating the misclassification of employees that undermines union standards.
“After much deliberation, Teamsters Local 671 is endorsing Governor Lamont in his bid for a third term as Governor of Connecticut,” said Tony LePore, Principal Officer, Teamsters Local 671. “We appreciate the Governor making the time and the effort to hear from us about the challenges our members face every day, and to give our union support and insights into advocating on issues such as organizing protections, school funding, school bus workers, and more.”
The Teamsters Local 671 endorsement adds to Governor Lamont’s growing list of labor and legislative support across Connecticut, including the Connecticut Education Association, AFSCME Council 4, the Connecticut AFL-CIO, 32BJ SEIU, 1199 SEIU, the Teamsters Union, IUOE Local 478, Unite Here Local 217, Unite Here Local 34, the Connecticut District Laborers’ Council, the Uniformed Professional Firefighters Association, the Amalgamated Transit Union of Connecticut, the Connecticut Carpenters Union, the Association of Commuter Rail Employees, and the Connecticut Education Association, along with U.S. Sens.
