Governor Lamont Endorsed by Connecticut Teamsters Unions
Hartford, Conn. – Governor Ned Lamont today announced he has received the endorsement of the Teamsters Unions, representing thousands of essential workers in the transportation, warehouse, delivery, and public service sectors across the state. The endorsement highlights the Governor’s commitment to Connecticut’s workforce, his efforts to strengthen the state’s supply chain, and his long track record of protecting the rights of organized labor.
“The Teamsters are the engine that keeps Connecticut moving, from our ports and warehouses to our roads and public offices,” said Governor Ned Lamont. “As a Governor, I have proudly stood with labor and fought for good jobs for Connecticut working families. As we move Connecticut forward, protecting the right to organize, investing in infrastructure, and ensuring that our economy works for everyone, is more important than ever. I am honored to receive this endorsement and continue fighting for a better Connecticut.”
This announcement follows a series of legislative victories for Connecticut’s working families, including the expansion of workforce development programs, new job protections for labor, and the implementation of landmark policies like paid family and medical leave and an above $15 minimum wage. Under the Lamont administration, the state has prioritized the health and safety of essential workers while combating the misclassification of employees that undermines union standards.
“This administration has stepped up time and time again to support labor,” said Rocco Calo, Teamsters Local 1150 Principal Officer & IBT Executive Vice President. “They are here. They don’t just talk to talk, they walk the walk. They got our back. And we can see it. We see it in their legislation. We see it in how they conduct business in this state. I’m very fortunate to live in this state. I’m very fortunate to have the leader that we do. Governor, we are proud on behalf of the five locals here to endorse you for your next term.”
The Connecticut Teamsters endorsement highlights Governor Lamont’s strong record of delivering for the labor movement. He has fought to ensure that workers are not undercut by bad actors who skirt labor laws and has supported labor peace agreements and prevailing wage standards. Governor Lamont has ensured that Connecticut remains a leader in labor rights, and with that, guaranteed strong, union protected jobs remain the foundation of our economy.
The Teamsters join a growing list of announced endorsements, including U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, U.S. Reps. John Larson, Joe Courtney, Rosa DeLauro, Jim Himes and Jahana Hayes, 86 Democratic Town Committee Chairs, more than 50 municipal leaders across the state, the Connecticut District Laborers’ Council, and the Connecticut Carpenters. The campaign will announce additional endorsements in the coming days.
