Governor Lamont Endorsed by Connecticut Carpenters Union

Hartford, Conn. – Governor Ned Lamont today announced he received the endorsement of the Connecticut Carpenters Local 326, an affiliate of the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (NASRCC), representing thousands of skilled tradespeople across the state. The endorsement highlights the Governor’s commitment to Connecticut workers, historic investment in housing and infrastructure and his long track record in support of labor.

“The Carpenters are the backbone of our state’s growth. I am honored to have their support as we continue to invest in our people, protect workers’ rights, and ensure that every person in Connecticut has a path to a good-paying, stable career,” said Governor Ned Lamont. “We are moving Connecticut forward with more affordable housing, upgrades to our infrastructure, and we are doing it with the best-trained workforce in the world.¨

This announcement follows a series of legislative victories for Connecticut’s working families, including the expansion of workforce development programs, new job protections for labor, and bold new investments in housing and infrastructure. Under the Lamont administration, the state has seen a surge in construction activity while simultaneously implementing landmark policies like paid family and medical leave and a $15 minimum wage.

“Governor Ned Lamont is a proven champion for the men and women who build Connecticut,” said Miguel Fuentes, President of Carpenters Local 326 an affiliate of the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. “From standing up against payroll fraud to ensuring that state projects are built by local workers with fair wages and benefits, he has consistently had our backs. Our members are proud to endorse Governor Lamont for reelection because he understands that a strong Connecticut depends on strong union labor and a vibrant construction industry.”

The Connecticut Carpenters are backing Governor Lamont because of his unparalleled record of delivering for the labor movement. He has fought against employee misclassification, ensuring that union members aren’t undercut by bad actors, and supported labor peace agreements, prevailing wages, and labor rights. By authorizing billions in long-overdue infrastructure upgrades and expanding “learn-while-you-earn” apprenticeship models, Governor Lamont has not only secured years of project stability for the trades, but has also ensured that the next generation of Connecticut workers has a direct pipeline into high-quality, union-protected careers.

The Carpenters join a growing list of announced endorsements, including U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, and U.S. Reps. John Larson, Joe Courtney, Rosa DeLauro, Jim Himes and Jahana Hayes, 87 Democratic Town Committee Chairs, more than 50 municipal leaders across the state, Connecticut College Democrats, and the Connecticut District Laborers’ Council. The campaign will announce additional endorsements in the coming days.
