Governor Lamont Endorsed by Attorney General Tong, Comptroller Scanlon, Treasurer Russell

Hartford, Conn. – Governor Ned Lamont today announced strong support for his reelection from Attorney General William Tong, Comptroller Sean Scanlon, and Treasurer Erick Russell, underscoring a unified team that has helped strengthen Connecticut’s economy and improve the efficiency of state government. Together, they have defended residents’ rights, upheld the rule of law, and delivered sustained fiscal progress, including eight consecutive balanced budgets, multiple credit rating upgrades, more than $11 billion in debt reduction, and record reserves, while protecting core services for families and businesses.

“I’m proud to go to work with such an incredible team of dedicated leaders who wake up every day not just thinking about how we protect Connecticut residents and their rights, or create opportunity in education and our economy, or make life more affordable, but actually getting it done,” said Governor Ned Lamont. “I’m grateful for their partnership. Together with Attorney General William Tong, Comptroller Sean Scanlon, and Treasurer Erick Russell, we’ve delivered real results, from eight consecutive balanced budgets and credit upgrades to historic debt reduction, and we’ve stood up for Connecticut in court when the Trump administration has gone too far, always putting our residents and our values first.”

Governor Lamont and his team have worked with real unity and purpose to guide Connecticut from a decade of fiscal instability to sustained stability, achieving balanced budgets, stronger reserves, major debt reduction, and continued investments in working families, including paid family and medical leave, expanded education funding, and meaningful tax relief.

“Under Governor Lamont, Connecticut has undergone one of the strongest fiscal turnarounds in the country,” said Comptroller Sean Scanlon. “Thanks to his leadership, we’ve gotten our fiscal house in order while also delivering real relief for families: tax cuts for the middle class, expanded early childhood care and paid family and medical leave. But he knows we’ve got a lot more work to do, and I am proud to be working with him to drive down healthcare costs, improve efficiency in state government, and advance bold solutions like the Connecticut Option so quality care is more accessible and affordable for everyone.”

“Governor Lamont understands that real leadership is about building a strong foundation for the future,” said State Treasurer Erick Russell. “That means responsible budgets that prepare us for whatever comes next, working to right many of the wrongs of the past, and investing in children and families today and for generations to come through innovative ideas like the Early Childhood Education Endowment that can expand access and opportunity in Connecticut. I’m proud to endorse Governor Lamont for reelection and to keep building on this work together.”

As the Trump administration and Supreme Court have threatened fundamental rights and freedoms, Governor Lamont and Attorney General William Tong have worked together to defend Connecticut’s values—protecting reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, and immigrant communities, while also standing up against efforts to block clean energy projects like Revolution Wind, which support good-paying jobs and lower energy costs for families.

“We are now in a serious fight to protect the rights and freedoms that define Connecticut,” said Attorney General William Tong. “Governor Lamont has been a consistent partner in that work by standing up for reproductive freedom, immigrant families, and core civil liberties that people here depend on every day. I’ve been proud to fight alongside him and deliver results for Connecticut in court, protecting voting rights and defending access to healthcare and SNAP benefits, and standing up for clean energy projects like Revolution Wind that mean good jobs and lower costs for families. Governor Lamont has shown steady leadership, and he’s exactly the kind of governor we need.”

“Together, we’ve delivered stable budgets, strong services, and protected the rights and freedoms of our residents,” said Governor Ned Lamont. “I’m grateful for the partnership of our ‘Connecticut Team,’ and at a time when Washington too often puts those values at risk, we will continue standing together and fighting for the people of Connecticut.”
