Deputy Political Director

Governor Ned Lamont’s 2026 re-election campaign is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven Deputy Political Director to help lead the campaign’s statewide political operation. This is a senior-level position for a strategic political professional with deep familiarity navigating Connecticut’s political landscape and a demonstrated ability to maintain strong, trusted relationships across regions and constituencies.

Deputy Political Directors play a central role in coordinating the campaign’s surrogate program, leading stakeholder outreach, and working closely with elected officials, organizations, labor partners, and Democratic Town Committees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the campaign’s statewide political program engaging Democratic stakeholders, labor unions, advocacy organizations, community groups, and key constituencies across Connecticut.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen working relationships with elected officials, party leaders, labor organizations, advocacy groups, and community-based organizations.
  • Coordinate and manage the campaign’s surrogate program, including elected officials and organizational leaders.
  • Take the lead on stakeholder outreach and coordination heading into the Democratic convention and through the general election.
  • Support and execute the campaign’s endorsement strategy in coordination with the Political Director.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for political stakeholders, ensuring clear communication between the campaign and external partners.
  • Work with the operations team to coordinate political events, stakeholder meetings, house parties, and coalition-based events across the state.
  • Monitor and report on political developments across Connecticut, including competitor activity, stakeholder concerns, and opportunities for engagement.
  • Help build and manage the Regional Political Organizing team.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of political campaign or advocacy experience.
  • Experience working on statewide or regional campaigns, preferably in Connecticut.
  • Demonstrated success cultivating and maintaining long-term political relationships across regions, organizations, and stakeholder groups.
  • Prior experience navigating Connecticut’s political ecosystem strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with senior stakeholders and elected officials.
  • Experience using NGP VAN and Google Suite/Google Drive.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Monthly salary of $6,800 - $7,500 commensurate with experience
