Deputy Field Director, Organizing
Governor Ned Lamont’s 2026 re-election campaign is seeking an experienced, detail oriented Deputy Field Director, Organizing, to help lead and implement the campaign’s statewide organizing program. This is a senior field role for a strong manager and operator who can execute strategy, support staff, and help scale a high-performing organizing program through the convention, primary, and general election.
The Deputy Field Director works closely with the Field Director and senior campaign leadership to implement the organizing plan, manage organizing staff, and ensure strong execution of voter contact, capacity building, and field goals across Connecticut.
Key Responsibilities
- Help implement the campaign’s statewide organizing program, including voter contact, capacity building, and turnout efforts.
- Support the hiring, training, and management of organizing staff as the campaign grows.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to conduct voter contact and organizing activities, both directly and through the staff they supervise.
- Build and help maintain systems and structures to meet daily, weekly, and phase based field goals while maintaining strong data integrity.
- Work closely with the Field Director to track progress toward voter contact and organizing benchmarks and adjust strategy as needed.
- Mentor and guide staff with regular feedback, recognition, and clear expectations.
- Coordinate regularly with campaign leadership, and the political, communications, and operations teams to ensure field efforts are fully integrated into the overall campaign strategy.
- Staff the candidate and campaign surrogates at field-driven events and organizing activities as needed.
- Monitor field conditions, troubleshoot challenges, and provide regular reporting and recommendations to senior field leadership.
- Support convention preparation and general election field operations.
Qualifications
- At least 3–5 cycles of campaign organizing experience, including prior Deputy-level or senior field leadership experience
- Prior experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers on electoral or issue campaigns in a paid staff capacity is required.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing paid staff (preferred) or fellows/interns.
- Strong understanding of voter contact programs, including canvassing, phone banking, and volunteer-led organizing.
- Proficiency with VAN and familiarity with peer-to-peer texting and dialing tools.
- Proven interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Draws from team members’ strengths, empowering them to maximize their talents; contribute where needed to achieve and exceed campaign goals.
- Demonstrated ability to manage details, meet deadlines under pressure, and problem-solve effectively.
- Ability to work campaign hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to relocate to Connecticut and travel statewide as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Experience organizing in Connecticut preferred but not required.

- Monthly salary of $6,500 - $7,250 commensurate with experience
