“The recent troubling resignation of CENTCOM Commander and Bush appointee Admiral William Fallon confirms a pattern that started to emerge even before the Iraq war began five years ago: President Bush is all for letting the military commanders, and not the politicians, make the call in Iraq – but only as long as they agree with President Bush.”
“After a lifetime of being spoon-fed government-sponsored news and propaganda, many Arab viewers watch their so-called independent news with a skeptical eye…”
“During our debate last year, Senator Lieberman intoned that he wanted to ‘elect a Democratic President in 2008,’ and that my election would ‘frustrate and defeat our hope of doing that.’ With his endorsement of John McCain, it is now clear that Joe Lieberman is the one working to defeat our hopes.” (Read the full statement.)
“Just as Truman and George Marshall led in creating a free post-war world with the structural backbone and credibility to stand down the Communist threat, America is looking for a strategic alternative to the trigger-happy, go-it-alone cowboy machismo of the Bush-Lieberman years.”
“I had not worked in the Middle East for almost twenty years, and I spent much of last year in a Senate campaign debating America’s role in this volatile region. The vast disparity of wealth and opportunity is chilling.”
“General David Petraeus’ congressional testimony this week directly contradicted the findings of last year’s Baker-Hamilton Iraq Study Group…. In his testimony, the general merely offered a slightly updated version of the logic the Bush Administration has used to keep American troops in Iraq for the past four and a half years: ‘We’ll stand down when they stand up.’”
“On this, the two year anniversary of the devastation of Katrina, I say it again: give it back, give back those corrupting earmarks and finally start rebuilding the levees, rebuilding the communities of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, and rebuilding America.”
“At the end of twelve months on the trail, you cannot help but be impressed by the quality of citizenship in our country and the number of Americans ready to stand up and pitch in… if only their leaders would lead.”
“An executive recruiter looking for the next CEO of GM is not looking for a moderate who will manage by increment; he is looking for a bold visionary who will fundamentally change the company and allow it to compete in the 21st century. Our health care system requires just such leadership.”
“Last year, while voters across the country were giving Democrats a mandate to change course on Iraq, you were able to muddy the real ‘Choice on Iraq’ for the voters of Connecticut. They thought they were choosing between two candidates who anticipated ‘significant’ troop reductions by the end of the year, who both wanted ‘to bring our troops home.’
“Senator, one of us still believes in those words we spoke during the campaign.”
“I think that the School of Management is important for Yale and important for Connecticut and has a strategy that balances public and private in a way that’s important for the country.”
“Some who supported the Greenwich businessman in his upset of Joseph Lieberman in the 2006 Democratic primary want the party to choose Lamont as a superdelegate for its national convention later this year.”
“Ned Lamont, who challenged U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman for his Senate seat two years ago, has offered to match up to $25,000 in donations made through June 30.”
“Our over-reliance on the property tax accelerates some negative trends in Connecticut which impact our quality of life and our ability to compete for good paying jobs. The best strategy for our future in Connecticut should focus on rebuilding our cities, which were some of the wealthiest cities in the country a century ago.’‘
Ned Lamont was not on the ballot, but his presence was nonetheless felt in Connecticut’s Democratic presidential primary.

This past Tuesday morning, Lamont played Obama in a mock debate he’d organized at Central Connecticut State University, where he is an adjunct professor. Tonight, Lamont will host Michelle Obama at a fundraising reception at a Greenwich home.

”’I made the decision not on who was the most helpful to my campaign, but on who I thought would make the best president,’ Lamont said in a telephone interview yesterday.”
”’At the end of the day, it just seems to me that Barack Obama is the guy who can energize new voters, build coalitions and be in the position to get real change,’ Lamont said.”

A video mashup of Ned Lamont campaigning for Chris Dodd in Iowa the weekend of December 8th, 2007.
“”What I love about Iowa is you guys give the people a shot. You can go with the frontrunners and be like all the rest of the states, or you can give somebody like Chris Dodd a shot. This is Iowa. You guys all get together on Jan. 3 and walk to your corner of the room. And that’s a chance to give one more guy a ticket.”
