Communications Intern
Governor Ned Lamont’s 2026 re-election campaign is seeking a Communications Intern to support the campaign’s press, digital, and messaging efforts. This role is ideal for a student or early-career professional interested in political communications who is eager to learn in a fast-paced, statewide campaign.
The Communications Intern works closely with the Communications Director, Press Secretary, and social media team to support daily media operations, rapid response, and content development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with communications materials, including press releases, media advisories, talking points, statements, and internal memos
- Monitor news coverage, social media, and opposition messaging; compile daily clips and flag relevant stories and trends
- Support rapid response efforts through research, fact-checking, and message development
- Help maintain press lists, media trackers, and internal communications documents
- Assist with content creation, including social media posts, graphics, and videos
- Support communications staff with event preparation and press logistics
- Conduct background research on policy issues, opponents, and media outlets as needed
- Staff and support campaign events, press conferences, and candidate appearances as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in politics, public policy, or campaign communications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and willingness to take initiative
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital trends
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while handling independent tasks
- Prior campaign, political, or communications experience is a plus but not required
- Ability to work campaign hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Compensation & Benefits
